Get on the Market

Asos Marketplace is a godsend, it is full of Vintage and independent boutiques crammed full of interesting and unique designs.

Take a look at some pieces from the boutiques on there.

Okiedoki shop

The Okie doki shop custom makes their individual t-shirts by embellishing them with loveliness. All the t-shirts & vests have great images upon them that sit with the style so well.
I liked them that much I brought one yesterday.

Alice takes a trip

I love this boutique such a great mix of historic style with the velvet & lace and edgy fabrics that lift the piece to todays market.

Obscure Couture

Individually one off pieces, a bit pricey and as I have not seen the quality I would not be able to determine whether or not they are worth it.
Certainly look nice...

Rouge Pony

This Boutique makes head pieces from Flowers & feather.
They are lovely, get buying for the festivals next year.

Lost in Lace

Yesterday I went to the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery to see the lost in lace exhibition. Its full title- Lost in Lace: Concealed and Revealed This tells the stories behind lace, revealing hidden histories and the often dark side of these beautifully made items. That was I admit from the leaflet I took away but I agree completely.
As a lover of fabric it was a real joy to see how they had manipulated and wound and pulled and draped this material, it captured my imagination and made me want go straight home an attempt to emulate these beautiful pieces.

This was one of my favourites, very erie...

A very fine piece of lace...

I can imagine a smaller version in my bedroom...

London Fashion Week

One of the UKs biggest appointments London Fashion week has nearly been and gone, there have been an array of interesting and influencing shows on the catwalk this week and I'm only sorry I wasn't there to see it.
I have now browsed through all of the images and made up my opinions over most so here are the stand outs for me...

Vivienne Westwood Red Label

House of Holland
Right- My Favourite

Giles
I have to say this collection causes confusion, there seems to be no coherency and several themes to be considered.
It begins with a very dominate female dress then moves into religious iconography print, then follows with oriental influences and finally bondage leather.
There must be a reason but for the moment it’s lost on me.

Fashion 2012 is the official fashion industry activity for the Olympic year. Created by the British Fashion Council (BFC), this is a great way to showcase British fashion so i will be looking forward to that next year.

Super Natural

It's so difficult to get the magazines I love in Birmingham off the shelf. WHSmith only have certain ones some of the time so you can't really rely on them, Borders was the best but it sadly closed down.
Anyway so when I find the magazines I love sitting on the shelves waiting for me to pick them and place them lovingly into my collection I get slightly excited and snatch the magazine from its sombre home like a homeless person finding a pound coin on the floor.

The Super Natural issue from Love Magazine features a lot of fetish and bondage which can be quite in your face and provoking. The front cover is a pick and mix from several models styled in the Super Natural, my particular issue has Chloe Moretz with sparkly devil horns and the best hair colour ever... I want it.

Interactive Catwalk

Rachel Antonoff

I like this idea of making a catwalk more interactive and Rachel Antonoff has done just that. The models stand round like dolls in a doll house while you walk through and admire the designs.
I have to say thought that although the designs are sweet they are a little on the boring side for me, perhaps that why she opted for this style of show to make it a little more interesting.
